(Howard Hewett) Just like that old saying goes, You have to be in the right place at the right time.

JC: How old where you when you first realized that you had the desire to pursue music?
(Howard Hewett) I started out singing gospel music when I was ten years old. I took every opportunity that I could to sing. By the time I was fourteen I began singing R&B music with a local band in Akron Ohio. I continued to sing with the band until I finished High School and moved to California. Once there I put together a band and we traveled internationally singing the top 40s songs in places like France, Spain and Finland just to name a few. We toured for almost a year this gave me a chance to develop my singing skills.
JC: When you discovered your gifted talent, what steps did you take in preparing yourself towards your vision that ultimately lead to your success?
(Howard Hewett) Just like that old saying goes, You have to be in the right place at the right time. That is true, but people leave out the most important part of that saying. You have to be prepared. If the timing is right and you are unprepared you will miss out on an opportunity. I had no idea that I was preparing myself, but when the opportunity was presented to me I was ready.
JC: Out of all the songs you have recorded what song really touches base with you?
(Howard Hewett) That would be the song (Say Amen) because this song
touches on spirituality. Praising God is very much a part of my life. The song also helps others to honor and stay focused on their spiritual path through the years. And then there was the song (I Am For Real). This song was significant because it was my first solo single. The song (For The Lover In You) was the first ballad from Shalimar that really established them as group.
JC: I enjoyed the interview with Howard Hewett. He is a man that doesn't mind giving God the praise for his success. His music touches people all over the world, his vocal style is truly an original gift and lyrically strong. Howard Hewett songs are for everyone both the young and old.
